This is an authentic stock certificate issued by the Mahoning Coal Railroad Company in 1955.
The Mahoning Coal Railroad Company was incorporated in the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania in 1871.
The railroad leased itself to the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway in 1873 and then in 1914, as part of a consolidation, the lease was assumed by the New York Central Railroad.
The certificate has a beautiful vignette depicting the likeness of a blacksmith and a farmer starting their workday. This would make a great gift for anyone who has an interest in railroad history or art.
